Gizem Aksu > 9/8Fight41

This short documentary dance film is based on Gizem Aksu's interest in the Sinti-Roma boxing legend of Germany, Johann Rukeli Trollmann (1907-1944).

Rukeli Trollmann was exposed to many forms of discrimination by the Nazi regime because of his “boxing by dancing as a gypsy” and was murdered in the Wittenberge concentration camp. Inspired by Rukeli Trollmann's fight, the film traces the artist's experience of immigration to Berlin and the struggle for justice in Istanbul.

Can Candan > My child

What happens when your child comes out of the closet? 'My child' is a documentary about parents of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals in Turkey, who intimately talk about their experiences. Moving interviews tell the story of a very courageous and inspiring group of mothers and fathers in Turkey who are parents of LGBTQI+ people. Not only have they taken the difficult road to accepting their children for who they are, but they have also taken the next courageous step by sharing their experiences with other families and the wider public.

In the film, the parents intimately share their experiences with the viewer, moving and radically redefining what it means to be parents, family members and activists in a conservative, homophobic and transphobic society.
